Childcare logistics — the spreadsheet I wish I'd had sooner
Three columns, four colours, and one quietly life-changing tab for managing the daily logistics of a working family.
I resisted making a childcare spreadsheet for far too long because it felt deeply uncool. Reader, I was wrong. It's the single most useful thing in our house.
What's on it
- Who's doing drop-off and pick-up (with backup names)
- Nursery non-uniform days, library books, fruit week — the small print that derails a morning
- Holiday cover gaps highlighted in a colour that screams
- A "things we owe people" tab because favours from grandparents must be repaid in wine
Why it works
It takes the mental load out of one person's head and puts it somewhere both adults can see. That alone is worth the slightly nerdy setup.
If you want, I'll share the template — let me know and I'll write it up.
